Customs and Tax sectors are pioneering in digital transformation
Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Editorial Director of Vietnam Financial Times Pham Thu Phong said that over the years, the Ministry of Finance has pioneered the application of information technology and modernization in the field of management, helping to increase the efficiency and transparency in financial and budget management, moving towards an advanced and modern digital finance system, effectively serving the development of e-Government and digital Government.
For the past 7 consecutive years, the Ministry of Finance has always ranked first in the index of readiness for the development and application of information and communications technology (ICT Index). Regarding rankings according to the DTI digital transformation assessment index, in 2022, the Ministry of Finance ranked top 2 among ministries and branches providing public services.
The positive results in digital transformation of the Finance sector have been highly appreciated by people, businesses and organizations. In particular, the fields of tax and customs are always pioneering in implementing digital transformation with impressive results.
Typically: The electronic tax declaration system has been deployed in 63/63 provinces, cities and 100% of affiliated tax departments; Over 99% of businesses use electronic tax declaration, payment and refund.
In the field of customs, there have been 250 administrative procedures (of 13 ministries and branches) that were carried out through the National Single Window, etc.
The construction and data management platforms are built in the direction of enhancing compatibility between information infrastructures of state agencies, creating favorable conditions for electronic transactions among state agencies and among state agencies, organizations and individuals; Ensure the sharing of data from the Finance sector with other ministries, branches and localities that need to exploit and use.
Sharing more clearly about the digital transformation of the Customs sector, Director of the Department of Information Technology and Customs Statistics (General Department of Customs) Le Duc Thanh said: currently, the Customs sector is focusing resources on implementing the Customs Development Strategy by 2030 with the goal of building a formal and modern Vietnam Customs, on level with customs of developed countries in the world, leading in implementing digital government with the model of digital customs and smart customs. Concretize the Customs development strategy until 2030, implement policies and guidelines of the Party, Government and leaders at all levels on promoting digital transformation and technology application of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, the General Department of Customs has developed and issued a Digital Transformation Plan for the Customs sector to 2025, with an orientation to 2030 with the goal of striving to complete Digital Customs by 2025; By 2030, complete Smart Customs, etc.
In the field of tax, Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Taxation, said that in recent years, the Tax sector has always strived to reform and modernize management, from perfecting the legal environment to developing infrastructure, providing electronic tax services in an integrated, centralized manner, meeting e-Government requirements, towards digital Government.
“With the motto of taking people and businesses as the serving center, the Tax sector has been implementing many projects and tasks to apply information technology in tax management and comprehensive digital transformation. The General Department of Taxation determined that the strategic goal is the need to provide electronic services and support tools for people and businesses to help them participate in the digital transformation process," Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh emphasized.
Always accompany the business
At the Forum, on behalf of the business community, Mr. Nguyen Bac Ha - Head of the Membership and Training Committee (VCCI) said that the implementation of the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030, has achieved very clear results, especially awareness of digital transformation in state agencies, businesses and the entire population is constantly improving. In the Ministry of Finance, the digital transformation in the field of tax and customs has achieved important initial foundations.
In order to achieve success in digital transformation of the Tax and Customs sector, the decisive factor is the close attention and direction of leaders at all levels, and the participation of the entire Tax and Customs system with synchronous solutions from building and completing policy documents, operations, organizational structure, management processes to applying information technology in tax and customs management. Along with that is the companionship of people and businesses in digital transformation, thereby creating motivation to promote the development and success of digital transformation in the Tax and Customs sectors.
