On 10th January 2108, the Customs Enforcement Team said that it completed the inspection and counting the container loading of smuggled candy at Thanh Nam Phat Import- Export Limited Liability Company (address: No.176, Lien Huyen Street, K.P Tan Hiep, Tan Binh Ward, Di An Town, Binh Duong Province).

The shipment arrived at Cat Lai Port from 12th December 2017 to 29th December 2017, the company opened the declaration to import 2 commodities, including: 1,020 KIRKLAND fleece blankets and 4,800 bottles of DOWNY fabric softener, new 100%, origin the US. The total declared value was US $ 16,368, with the Import duty and VAT was over VND 82 million.

Because Thanh Nam Phat did not carry out Customs procedures for the shipment, thereby, the Customs Enforcement Team issued Decision 03/QD-KSHQ and collaborated with the Sai Gon Port Customs Branch Zone 1 for the inspection.

The results from physical inspection for the shipment showed that there were 810 blankets, origin China (different from the company’s declaration), and without the DOWNY fabric softener as stated in the declaration.

In addition, the Customs detected nearly 10 tons of dried candy, cake and fruit without Customs declaration, including: chocolate candies, raisins, cakes and almonds. These commodities are subject to the list of conditional imports.

According to the Customs Enforcement Team, the result from the verification for the company at the business registration address showed that this company did not operate at the above address. The shipping line verification showed that Thanh Nam Phat Company had received the delivery order.
