The Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has just received information related to Taiwan (China) making an official notice to use the Imported Food Digital Management System (IFDM).

From August 1, 2022, Taiwan would officially use the IFDM in this market.

Accordingly, applications for built-in system evaluation of products exported to Taiwan will have to be submitted online. Applications submitted before August 1, 2022 will not need to be re-declared on the system. Taiwan will not accept paper/written applications for built-in system evaluation (including the new increase of export enterprises to Taiwan).

According to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 35 of the Law on Food Hygiene and Safety Management, to manage products with a high level of food safety risk, before exporting to Taiwan, it is necessary to conduct a built-in system evaluation.

Taiwan's Health and Welfare Administration (MOHW) has issued a Built-In System Evaluation of Export Food Enforcement Measure. The range of products that need to be subjected to a built-in system evaluation includes meat products, seafood products, dairy products, eggs, animal fats and oils, and other deer products.

Exporting countries need to have an application for a built-in system evaluation and approval before these products can be exported to Taiwan.

The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has developed the IFDM. Partners can use the IFDM to apply for built-in system evaluation.
