Iron and steel imports from China accounting for 59.1%

By the end of the first 9 monthsof 2016, iron and steel imports reached nearly 13.92 million tons, worth more than $US 5.84 billion, increased by 24.7% in volume but only 2.3% in value.

The primary markets that supplied iron and steel for Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2016 include: China with 8.22 million tons, worth more than $US 3.25 billion, accounting for 59.1% in volume and 55.7% in value of the total volume and value of iron and steel imports of the whole country; iron and steel originating in Japan reached 2.11 million tons, worth $US 907 million, accounting for 15.2% in volume and 15.5% in value; South Korea with 1.33 million tons, worth $US 722 million, accounting for 9.6% in volume and 12.4% in value; etc.
