Information related to import – export activities of the whole country was recently released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, whcih showed that the whole country has spent US$1.023 billion to import phones and components in April, increasing by 6.5% compared to March.
Thereby, increasing the total import turnover of this group from the beginning of the year to the end of April reached $3.811 billion.
However, turnover dropped by 11.4% compared to the same period in 2018.
The decline in the turnover of the group of phones and components is mainly due to the decrease in turnover from China - the largest import market.
In the first four months of the year, the import turnover of this group from China was only $2.059 billion, while there was $2.564 billion in the same period last year, equivalent to a decrease of more than half a billion dollars or nearly 20%.
While the second largest import market of South Korea is almost unchanged.
Specifically, by the end of April, the import turnover of phones and components from Korea reached $1.5 billion, while the same period in 2018 reached $1.493 billion, increasing by about $7 million.
Notably, the above two markets in Asia accounted for 93% of the total import turnover of phones and components of the country, so the fluctuations in these two markets basically decided the increase and decrease of the import and export activities of Vietnam.
