This is the second time Mr. Donald Trump has won and become President of the United States (the previous time was in 2016).

Mr. Donald Trump was elected, how has Vietnam - US trade changed under the two times?

According to the latest preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, by the end of September 2024, the total trade between the two countries reached US$99.12 billion, nearly three times higher than the same period in 2016.

Specifically, by the end of September 2016, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the United States reached US$34.21 billion.

By the end of September 2024, Vietnam's exports to the United States rose 211.85% (nearly US$60 billion) over the same period in 2016 to US$88.16 billion.

Thus, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the United States grew very strongly under between the two times Mr. Donald Trump was elected,

For many years, the United States has been Vietnam's largest export market and our country's second largest trading partner.

According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam - US trade reached the US$100 billion mark for the first time in 2021 (reaching US$111.55 billion).

Entering 2022, despite facing many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam - US trade still has remarkable growth with a turnover of nearly US$124 billion.

In 2023, Vietnam - US trade saw about US$11 billion.

With the results achieved in the first nine months of 2024, this year will certainly be the 4th consecutive year that trade between the two countries has hit the hundred-billion-dollar mark.
