In order to accelerate and diversify forms of non-cash tax collection and payment, bring convenience, speed, accuracy and safety to taxpayers as business individuals and households, on June 15, 2020, Hanoi Tax Department sent Official Dispatch No. 52186 / CT-KK & KTT to five authorized commercial banks in the city with the expectation that the banks can provide information and documents on online tax collection and payment plans and solutions that are being applied or will be applied to individual taxpayers as well as raise the difficulties and problems during the implementation.

According to Hanoi Tax Department, after nearly two months of piloting online tax payment via MBBank App for 225 business households at Hai Ba Trung District’s Tax Branch, up to now, 160 business households have successfully downloaded the app, reaching 71%, of which, 104 households have paid taxes, reaching 46% with a paid amount of nearly VND49 million.

According to Mr. Vien Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Tax Department, difficulties during the implementation are thatbusiness individuals and households that have the habit of using cash of mostly old people who are lazy in using of technology; and each business household opens account at a different bank.

Besides, the searching on the app is still slow; some banks have not provided the function of online tax payment on smartphone interfaces so it requires taxpayers to use a computer.

From these common difficulties, the leaders of the Hanoi Tax Department have come up with a solution that business households are allowed to authorize commercial banks to deduct tax from their accounts.

Along with that, the commercial banks need to commit to not disclosing information of business households to other organizations and individuals in accordance with the law. The commercial banks must also coordinate and create favorable conditions for people in the online tax payment process and make them feel secure to use this form.

At the same time, the commercial banks need to review to give feedback to taxpayers after tax payment has been done via banks.

In the near future, the tax agency will continue to actively work with banks to disseminate and encourage business individuals and households to use online tax payment via banks.
