Generali Vietnam takes prompt action to creatively fundraise and support the government’s Covid-19 responses

VCN- Generali VietnamLife Insurance LLC (“Generali Vietnam”) successfully organized a fundraising challenge called “Góp bước chân xuyên Việt – Sải rộng cánh yêu thương” (Stepping across Vietnam – Spreading the wings of love) to support Vietnam’s Covid-19 prevention and control efforts.

The initiative aims at dual objectives, encouraging sports spirit in the community to improve health during the pandemic and fundraising to support disadvantaged families affected by Covid-19. With its innovative format, quick implementation, strong participation, and engagement from Generali’s staff and agents, as well as valuable trust from the public, the program has allowed Generali Vietnam to contribute a total amount of VND1.5 billion to support the Covid-19 emergency in Vietnam.

Specifically, Generali Vietnam provided, via the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), VND500 million worth of financial support to 500 underprivileged children and their families being treated and taken care of in Covid-19 quarantine facilities in the provinces of Dien Bien, Bac Giang, and Bac Ninh. The company also donated VND1 billion to the Vietnamese government’s vaccine fund. In addition, the company is committed to sponsoring vaccination for all employees. Funding for these activities comes from the company’s direct contribution and donations made by its staff, agents, and the community.

The fundraising initiative “Góp bước chân xuyên Việt – Sải rộng cánh yêu thương” was promptly run in 10 days from 7 to 16 June 2021, with enthusiastic participation from many Generali Vietnam’s staff and agent volunteers. Each volunteer pledged a minimum of 35,000 footsteps and rallied their friends and families to ‘encourage’ their efforts by donating to support Vietnam’s Covid-19 emergency.

“Góp bước chân xuyên Việt – Sải rộng cánh yêu thương” is part of The Human Safety Net (THSN)’s THSN Global Challenge 2021 which gathered about 4,000 volunteers from 23 THSN countries to support vulnerable families and individuals in the communities. In support of the global challenge, Generali Vietnam quickly developed and implemented an innovative and effective local program that promptly responded to the evolving Covid-19 situation in Vietnam.

Ms. Tina Nguyen, Generali Vietnam CEO, shared: “This innovative initiative has allowed us to concurrently achieve three goals: Timely supporting the national Covid-19 emergency, encouraging our people to exercise and improve their health during the pandemic, and engaging our staff and agents during social distancing. I am very pleased and touched to see such an extensive reach of the program thanks to our people’s unity, creativity, loving hearts, sharing spirit, and especially the valuable public trust in Generali Vietnam. The program vividly demonstrates our desire and commitment to become a “Lifetime Partner” to Vietnamese families all across the country.”

From the beginning of 2020, Generali Vietnam has implemented various initiatives to support the Covid-19 responses such as providing high quality medical protective suits to Vietnam’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and HCMC’s Hospital for Tropical Diseases, syringe pumps to Da Nang Hospital, offering special financial supports for staff, agents and customers unfortunately infected with Covid-19, supporting the community music project “Việt Nam ơi! "Đánh bay Covid!” (Vietnam! Fight off Covid!) sponsored by Vietnam’s Ministry of Health. Also in 2020, the Generali Group created an Extraordinary International Fund of up to EUR 100 million dedicated to the fight against the Covid-19 emergency on an international level, in Italy and 50 countries where Generali operates.
