Fish and seafood exports jump 4.3%

Farm raised and wild caught fish and seafood exports for the nine months leading up to October of 2016 jumped 4.3% year-on-year to US$4.93 billion, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Fish and seafood exports jump 4.3%.

The US, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea were the four largest export markets for the nine-month period, accounting for 53.7% of the total export value. Markets with high growth were China (up 55.2%), the US (14.3%), the Netherlands (12.3%) and Thailand (10.8%).

Businesses in Vietnam also imported US$770 million of fish and seafood for the nine-month period, down 7.2% over the same period last year.
