At the same time, the US was also the largest export market for this item, accounting for nearly 22% of Vietnam's total exports of phones and components in the first quarter.

Notably, the high growth in turnover in the US market was contrary to the gloomy situation of exporting phones in the first months of the year. By the first quarter, the turnover of this commodity group decreased by 3.6% compared to the same period last year. The decline mainly came from major markets in Europe.

Similar to phones, the US is also the number one market for machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts.

In the first quarter of the year, the export turnover to the US reached $970 million, up by 61% compared to the same period last year and accounting for nearly 24.4% of the total export turnover of this group of the country.

Besides the above two commodity groups, the US is the largest export market of many key commodity groups of Vietnam such as textiles and garments, wood and products and footwear.

Of which, textile and garment is the largest export group of Vietnam to this North American country with a turnover of $3.326 billion, up by 9.9% compared to the same period last year and accounting for 46.7% of total export turnover of textile of the country.

In the first quarter, total export turnover to the US reached $13,317 billion, up by 28.8% compared to the first quarter of 2018, equivalent to an increase of nearly $3 billion.

Currently, the world's largest economy is also the largest export market of Vietnam with the proportion accounting for 36.9% of the total turnover of the country in the first quarter.

Moreover, a point is that Vietnam achieved a large surplus in trade relations with the US. In the first three months of the year, our country enjoyed a trade surplus of more than $10 billion.
