Deputy PM Dam said there had been positive developments with regards to the epidemic situation over the past two days and called on all people to remain vigilant and increase their awareness on how to take steps in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic as a means of protecting the country’s health sector.
"Since the epidemic began spreading across the globe, our country has recorded a total of 241 infections, ranking 96th in the world in terms of number of positive COVID-19 cases and is one of the three countries to record over 200 infected cases and have no fatalities. Vietnam is thought to have controlled well the disease so far," Dam said.
These strong results can be attributed to the capable leadership of both the Party and State, as well as the active involvement of all people who are invoking the spirit of "every citizen is an anti-epidemic soldier", he added.
The country has seen 91 cases have gone on to make a full recovery, of which 74 cases remain under strict monitoring at health facilities.
A further 150 patients are being treated at medical facilities across the nation whilst two patients remain in critical condition and are currently receiving intensive treatment at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
Regarding their treatment, the Deputy PM mentioned that the current treatment COVID-19 patients receive is relatively good, with cases being treated as urgently as possible.
The health sector has moved to prepare sufficient medical equipment and supplies to handle as many as 3,000 cases of infection and is currently going ahead carrying out further preparations, he said.
