Deputy PM meets Japanese officials, Indonesian Vice President
Meeting with Speaker of House of Councillors of the Japanese National Diet Chuichi Date Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh expressed his sincere thanks to the Royal family, the Government and the Diet of Japan for their warm welcome given to President Tran Dai Quang and his wife during their recent visit to Japan.
He suggested the Japanese House of Councillor continue to strengthen delegation exchange at all levels, expand practical cooperation between the two legislatures, share experiences in building and fine-tuning the legal system and judicial reform, further strengthen trade and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, support the Government of Japan to provide continued ODA provision for Vietnam, especially for projects on high quality human resource training, key infrastructure development and climate change adaptation, and boost coordination and cooperation between the two legislative bodies regional and international parliamentary forums.
Chuichi Date expressed his pleasure at the sound relations between the two law-making bodies while praising the achievements in socio-economic development and foreign affairs Vietnam have recorded over recent years and affirming the importance of further strengthening cooperation with Vietnam across a variety of fields.
He also voiced support for the Government of Japan in assisting Vietnam in socio-economic development and desired to promote cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in 2018, which marks the 45th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and Japan's hosting of 2020 Summer Olympics.
Receiving Minister of Justice Yoko Kamikawa, Binh spoke of his appreciation for the effective cooperation between the Government and the Ministry of Justice of Japan in the field of justice and law, that has helped Vietnam build and revamp the legal system, and improve capacity building of Vietnam’s legal and judicial staff. He asked the Japanese Ministry of Justice to intensify exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam in mutual legal assistance in civil, commercial and criminal matters.
Binh urged the two sides to soon conduct their negotiation toward the signing of the Civil Judicial Assistance Agreement, share experience and provide technical assistance in order to improve the capacity of Vietnamese staff in the process of joining and realizing the Hague Conventions.
Justice Minister Kamikawa told his guest that he expects that the two sides will continue to augment exchanges and cooperation in the judicial field and soon sign a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries of Justice. He affirmed his nation’s readiness to cooperate closely with Vietnam at international legal forums and conferences in which Japan is a member, including the Hague Conventions.
He called for Vietnam's coordination at the 14th UN Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, set to take place in Kyoto in 2020 and assured Japan’s readiness to assist Vietnam in improving its legal system and training its legal staff.
Talking to AEON and WILLER group leaders, Deputy PM Binh affirmed the Vietnamese Government’s sustained efforts to improve the investment environment and create favorable conditions for Japanese enterprises to invest successfully in Vietnam.
He suggested them expand investment in Vietnam, increase cooperation in retail, distribution, exports, and public transport as contributions to spurring socio-economic development improving people's living standards.
AEON and WILLER group leaders promised to expand long-term investment in Vietnam. The WILLER Group President said he wishes the cooperation agreement with Vietnam’s Mai Linh Group will be adopted to call for investment capital so as to build around 100 inter-provincial bus stations nationwide and apply technology transfer, including high technology of the 4.0 industry for Vietnam as self-driving vehicles, and boost cooperation to improve the capacity of traffic safety management staff.
At his talks with Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Binh
affirmed Vietnam's recognition of great importance to strategic partnership with Indonesia and proposed the two sides continue to coordinate in carrying out the results of the official visit to Indonesia by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in July 2017 and the third meeting of the Vietnam - Indonesia Bilateral Cooperation Committee in April 2018.
Both sides concurred to bolster bilateral cooperation in economics and trade towards reaching the two way trade US$10 billion.
They agreed to sign deals on cooperation in trade, agriculture-fishery, national defence, security and crime combat, and soon build a close and effective coordination mechanism in protecting fishermen and fishing boats, and fighting crimes at sea.
Both sides also discussed measures to maintain peace, stability and security in the region, reinforce the solidarity, unity and central role of ASEAN in strategic matters, including the East Sea issue.
