On January 21, State and government leaders of Vietnam extended messages of congratulations to the 45th US President Donald Trump and the 48th US Vice President Mike Pence on their inauguration

In the messages, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh wished that President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the new administration of the US will reap more successes for the well-being of the US people, positively contributed to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the world.

They said both nations see major opportunities to further strengthen cooperation within the framework of comprehensive partnership based on the principle of respecting international law, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political regime of each other.

The leaders also expressed their desire to work closely with the US to promote ASEAN-US ties, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and other regional mechanisms for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
