Kim Thanh No.2 International Border Gate, Lao Cai- the key border gate for export of agricultural products, is still quiet duringthe corona virus outbreak.

Hai Phong Industry and Trade Department said that according to the schedule announced before the Lunar New Year, China will officially open border gates to carry out import and export activities on January 31.

However, the Committee for Trade Agreement Bang Tuong's external economy has announced the closure of trading in markets of Bang Tuong town from January 31 to the end of February 8 and will officially open on February 9(except Huu Nghi International Border gates) on the grounds of ensuring the prevention ofthe coronavirus epidemic.

At the same time, the Steering Committee on Epidemic prevention, control working group of Ha Khau District has also also announced the closure of trading in markets in Bac Son – Ha Khau until the end of February 8.

To avoid affecting customs clearance and causing congestion in border areas, the Hai Phong Industry and Trade Department has proposed the Agriculture and Rural Development Department, People's Committees of districts, business associations and manufacturers, importers and exporters in Hai Phong city to deploy many related contents.

Exchanging information and recommending to businesses, traders, farmer households as well as related organizations and individuals in the area and in businesses associations of the closure of trading transactionsat pairs of marketplaces in the locality until February 8, to regulate transportation progress, delivery and receipt of goods at the border gate area to ensure the safety of goods quality, avoid the situation of being subject to being forced to be granted or subject to price pressures.

At the same time, it is recommended that the export and import of agricultural and fishery products and fruits via the northern border provinces such as Lang Son, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang must be closely monitored to actively make plans for production, packaging, delivery and export of goods through border gatesavoiding congestion and other adverse impacts.

Strictly implement export activities to China according to international practices; improve quality, implement regulations on traceability, declaration of planting areas, packing facilities as well as related requirements to meet the regulations and standards agreed with the importing countries, avoid arising risks and minimizing losses in the production and business process.

In fact, because the Chinese side has suspended import and export activities due to the coronavirus epidemic, goods transported to the northern border gates, especially agricultural products have been stuck at border gates.

At the Kim Thanh No.2 International Border Gate, Lao Cai, there are 3,000 tons of of dragon fruit that are not allowed to be exported.

In Lang Son, after many quiet days, on February 5, the People's Committee of Lang Son province officially cleared agricultural products at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate to reduce the volume of goods that are stuck at the border gate before the Lunar New Year.

Currently, the border areas in Lang Son, Lao Cai and Quang Ninh are the largest agricultural export areas of Vietnam to China.
