Cars mainly imported through Hai Phong and HCMC seaports

VCN -  In July 2019, the volume of imported cars was 11,609 units, worth nearly US$259 million. Remarkably, nearly 100 percent of less than nine seats cars were imported through Hai Phong and HCM City seaports.

The volume of cars imported from these five market amounted to 92.5 percent of total imported cars in July.According to the latest information provided by the General Department of Customs, in July, 2019, all CBU cars of all kinds registering for import procedures originated from five major markets which were Thailand with 6,572 units, Indonesia with 3,210 units, China with 600 units, Japan with 201 units and South Korea with 157 units.

From the beginning of the year to the end of July, 2019, Vietnam imported 86,969 CBU cars of all kinds, 4.6 times higher than 18,888 units in the same period last year.

Of which, less than nine seats cars amounted to 63,063 units, three times more than in the first seven month in 2018.


Of which, cars imported through HCM City seaport were 5,322 units and through Hai Phong seaport were 2,830 units.Less-than nine seats cars were 8,177 units with total value of US$161 million, accounting for 73.3 percent of total imported CBU cars of all kinds.

Less than nine seat cars imported in July 2019 were mainly from Thailand with 4,904 units and Indonesia with 2,712.

Trucks imported in July amounted to 2,520 units valued at US$60 million

Of which, 1,668 trucks originated from Thailand and 498 from Indonesia.

Trucks were mainly imported through HCM City seaport with 1,496 units and through Hai Phong seaport with 688 units.

Other cars (specialised cars) imported in July were 437 units worth about US$28.4 million

Of which, 272 units came from China and 100 from South Korea.

These CBU cars were mainly imported to Vietnam in July through Lang Son border gate with 230 units; Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport with 60 units, HCM City seaport with 52 units and Hai Phong seaport with 42 units.
