According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, total import and export turnover in the first half of June 2017 (from 1st to 15th June 2017) reached over US $17.5 billion, a decrease of 12.9% (equivalent to US $ 2.85 billion) compared to the second half of May 2017.

Thus, until the end of June 15th, 2017, the total import and export turnover of the country reached over $US 179.84 billion, an increase of 21.5% (equivalent to US$ 31.84 billion) compared to the same period of 2016. Trade balance of goods in the first half of June 2017 had a deficit of US $ 323 million, bringing the trade balance of goods of the country from the beginning of the year to the end of 15th June to a deficit of more than US$ 2.8 billion, equal to 3.2% of the country’s export turnover.

For the exports, in the first half of June 2017, total export turnover reached nearly $US 8.59 billion, a decrease of 16.7% compared to the second half of May 2017. Until the end of May 15th, 2017, export turnover of the country reached nearly $US 88.52 billion, an increase of 18.7% over the same period in 2016.

Notably, in the first half of June 2017, the turnover of some major categories sharply decrease compared to the second half of May such as: Telephone of various types and components down by 26%; Machine, tools, equipment and spare parts down by 34.3%; Footwears down by 11%.

Until the end of June 15th, 2017, 3 categories reached over $US 10 billion export turnover, including: Telephone of various types and accessories of $US 18.02 billion; Textiles and garments of US$ 10.51 billion; Computers, electronic products and components of US$ 10.28 billion.

For the imports, in the first half of June 2017, total import turnover reached nearly US$ 8.91 billion compared to the second half of May.

Until the end of June 15th, total import turnover of the country reached US $ 91.32 billion, an increase of 24.3 % (equivalent to nearly US$ 17.87) compared to the same period of 2016.
