The two legislators agreed to bolster cooperation in human resource training, share their experience in institution building, and law building and the oversight of law enforcement.

They will work together to inaugurate the Vietnam-Lao Revolutionary History Relic Site in Son La marking the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and 40th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

The Lao National Assembly supports the Joint Statement on the East Sea of the 49th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Laos pledged to sustainably and effectively use water resources in the Mekong River and fully implement agreements signed by the two countries’ leaders.

The two NA leaders also reviewed the outcomes of their supervision over the implementation of bilateral cooperation deals over the past years, while seeking directions and measures to continue reinforcing the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two law-making bodies.

They underscored the need for both sides to step up their coordination in theory and practical researches to find solutions for socio-economic issues, thus protecting cultural values and identities of each nation.

Both sides also expressed their delight at the growing ties in economic, trade, investment and ODA from the central to local levels.

Vietnam is currently the third largest investors in Laos with total investment of more than US$5 billion.

Both host and guest consented to continue stepping up cooperation in personnel training and sharing experience, especially in institutional and legal building and the supervision of law enforcement as well as their close coordination at international parliamentary forums.

Laos pledged to realize the consensus on the sustainable and effective use and management of the Mekong River’s water resources reached by the two countries’ leaders.

The leaders voiced their support for the two Governments’ early negotiations of the agreement on extradition cooperation and another agreement on the transfer of prisoners.
