Vietnam temporarily suspends visa waivers for Belarus, Russia, Japan citizens

The Vietnamese government has just decided to temporarily suspend its unilateral visa waiver for citizens of Belarus, Russia and Japan in an effort to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to the community.

Strict coronavirus prevention measures put in place at airports

The decision will take effect at 12.00 on March 21, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the same time, the government will also suspend the effect of the Certificate of Visa Exemption for Belarusian, Russian and Japanese citizens of Vietnamese origin and their relatives.

Citizens of Belarus, Russia and Japan holding an ordinary passport are still allowed to enter Vietnam if they have a suitable visa.

The decision does not apply to holders of diplomatic or official passports, who are allowed to enter Vietnam without a visa under the signed agreements between the Vietnamese Government and the Governments of Belarus, Russia and Japan.

When entering Vietnam, citizens of Belarus, Russia and Japan must meet the country’s preventive medicine requirements according to current regulations.
