Polish President and spouse begin State visit to Vietnam
Poland’s President Andrzej Duda
The visit manifests Poland’s wish to step up the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
It seeks to boost cooperation across fields of both sides’ interests and benefits, especially trade, investment, development cooperation, and defence.
On the occasion, the two sides will exchange information and measures to coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums.
Poland has placed importance on Vietnam’s role and position in its foreign policy towards Asia, considering Vietnam a leading partner in Southeast Asia.
Poland is Vietnam’s top trade partner in Central Eastern Europe, while Vietnam is Poland’s seventh largest trade partner outside the EU.
Two-way trade hit 790 million USD in 2016, of which Vietnam’s export revenue to Poland was 598 million USD. In the first nine months of this year, bilateral trade value reached 730 million USD.
As of October 2017, Poland had 14 investment projects in Vietnam, with total capital of 182.88 million USD. In 2014-2017, Poland’s investment in Vietnam doubled, mainly in real estate, processing and services.
Vietnam has invested in four projects in Poland worth about 5.1 million USD, specialising in services and food industry.
Currently, about 40,000 Vietnamese are living in Poland, contributing to ties between the two countries.
