The 11th plenum of the Party Central Committee, 12th tenure, opened in Hanoi on October 7 under the chair of Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong. Participants at the event are expected to give their opinions on draft documents which are set to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress. Drafted plans include the report on the current socio-economic situation, the state budget in 2019, the socio-economic development plan, the State budget for 2020, along with a range of other important matters.

With regard to the draft report on the five-year implementation of the Party’s work, and the enforcement of the Party statutes from the 12th term, he states that this represents an important report pertaining to the implementation of the Party’s key tasks, adding that the report indicates a number of outstanding outcomes, proposes directions, and 10 additional tasks and solutions which can improve the overall quality and efficiency of the Party building during the 13th tenure.

Regarding the report on the socio-economic situation and state budget for 2019 to 2020, Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong request that members of the Party Central Committee carefully analyse the actual situation of various sectors and localities to outline a comprehensive socio-economic development report for the first nine months of the year, and forecasts for the whole year.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held that 2020 will be the final year of the 12th tenure, with Party organisations at all levels holding congresses in preparation for the 13th National Congress of the Party.
