Following Ho Chi Minh’s example achieves positive results

After 2 years, the implementation of a Politburo Directive on studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, morality, and style has seen encouraging progress.

The drive helps curb ethical degradation among Party members, create unity within the Party and society, and fulfill socio-economic goals at local and national levels.

In a national meeting to review 2 years of implementing the Politburo Directive No5 on the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh on May 19, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat said positive and comprehensive results have been recorded.

Good performance

In 2 years, the Can Tho City Party Committee has involved 45,000 Party members, equivalent to 97% of the total number, in following Ho Chi Minh’s example. Local agencies are asked to create breakthroughs in implementing the Politburo Directive. Oversight of cadres’ performance and settlement of problems have been undertaken.

Tran Viet Truong, head of the Can Tho Party Committee’s Commission for Education and Communications, said “The Directive should be implemented wholeheartedly, not just for the sake of doing it. Close monitoring should be carried out to ensure that they are real people, real deeds, and role models. Greater efforts are needed to make the drive more practical.”

Party organizations and members in Can Tho city note down what they have done each day and make a monthly report of their performance. By doing so, each cadre and Party member exercises self-reflection and self-awareness in studying and following Uncle Ho’s example. Every 6 months, a Party member gives feedback on how far they have gone to avoid 27 manifestations of degradation in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle.

Extensive implementation of Politburo Directive

Many emulation movements initiated by the Party and government at all levels have helped clear pending issues in certain agencies and organizations. The sense of responsibility of leaders and State employees is enhanced. Specific tasks of following Ho Chi Minh’s example are discussed and studied on a regular basis. Leadership, oversight, and evaluation are carried out in a coordinated and systematic manner. All these have made the drive to follow Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, morality, and style more authentic.

Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Communications, said “It is routine and a matter of self-awareness for cadres, Party members, and other people to study and follow Uncle Ho’s example. This work is combined with the accomplishment of political tasks in every sector, locality, and agency. The results of implementing Directive No5 and the Resolution of the 12thParty Central Committee’s 4th plenum have contributed to elevating the Party’s credibility.”

Following Ho Chi Minh’s example has prevented Party members and cadres from being decadent, self-evolving, and self-transforming, intensified the fight against corruption, contributed to building a stronger and cleaner political system, and strengthened the Party’s leadership.
