Deputy FM hosts press briefing on ISOM-APEC meeting

In his speech, Son said delegates reached consensus on the working agenda for the APEC year in 2017. The Deputy Foreign Minister said that 200 activities will take place nationwide, including the APEC Summit Week in Danang.

"The informal meeting of senior officials wrapped up after 2 days of meeting to mark the first event before the APEC year. Vietnam's 2nd time of hosting the event reflect the international community's trust and credibility on Vietnam," he added.

APEC Secretariat managing director, Alain Bollard, said he expects Vietnam to show its leadership in the APEC year to ensure consensus and trade facilitation in the Asia Pacific against emerging protectionism and anti-globalization trends.

Vietnam proposed the theme of APEC 2017 as “Creating new driving force for a common future” with priorities concentrating on economic growth, regional integration, agriculture, food, innovation and small-scale businesses.

The Informal Senior Officials Meeting also appreciated the theme of APEC 2017.
