Day two of Party leader Trong’s visit to Russia
It is a consistent policy of Vietnam’s to regard Russia as one of its most important and reliable partners, Party leader Trong said during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Putin affirms that Russia has always held Vietnam in high regard as a leading partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
Amid the friendly atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding, the two leaders focus their discussions on major measures to create new momentum for bilateral cooperation in all fields.
They agree to maintain high-level delegation exchanges, political consultations, and strategic dialogues across all channels – including the Party, Government, parliament, agencies, ministries, departments, and localities.
They are pleased with the rapid growth of bilateral ties in economy and trade, particularly after the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasia Economic Union took effect and agree to step up measures to capitalise on the benefits of the pact.
The two leaders support the need to tackle conflict by peaceful measures without the use or threat of force and in keeping with international law, particularly the UN Charter.
After the talks, Party chief Trong and President Putin witness the signing of a number of cooperation documents between the two nations and hold a joint press conference.
President Putin says that Russia and Vietnam have especially important relations and the two countries maintain regular political dialogues.
The official visit to Russia by the Vietnamese Party leader has created a new momentum to deepen their bilateral multifaceted cooperation, says the Russian president.
Mr Trong and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation laid flowers at President Ho Chi Minh’s statue in Moscow on the morning of September 6.
The participants dedicated a minute’s silence to the memory of the late President who was a national hero of Vietnam and a great friend to Russia.
After the ceremony, the Vietnamese Party chief, with other delegates and Russian friends, plant a tree near the President Ho Chi Minh statue.
