Day One: Top Lao leader in Vietnam
General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith arrived at Noi Bai Airport on the morning of December 19.
Politburo member and head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Tran Quoc Vuong welcomes Mr Vorachith at Noi Bai Airport.
A welcome ceremony for the Lao leader takes place on the morning of December 19 at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.
This is the second visit to Vietnam of General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith during his tenure (2016-2021), aiming to reaffirm Laos’ policy of treasuring the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Trong and Mr Vorachith hold talks after the welcome ceremony.
At the talks, the two Party leaders affirms that the special relations between Vietnamese and Lao Parties and States hold the strategic meaning to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two countries as well as in the region and around the world.

The NA leader highlights the ongoing official visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith as a historic milestone in the relations between the two nations.
Meeting with Mr Vorachith in Hanoi, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expresses delight at the success of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2017.
PM Phuc affirms that the Vietnamese Government is fully prepared to realize bilateral agreements and take effective measures to overcome any obstacles in bilateral economic cooperation.
Mr Vorachithpays courtesy calls to former General Secretaries of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Le Kha Phieu,
and Nong Duc Manh as part of his official friendly visit to Vietnam.
