A total of 5,205 tablets of ecstasy were uncovered by Customs agents when they opened a package at the DHL warehouse during profiling.
According to the bureau, the intercepted shipment of ecstasy, an illegal amphetamine-based synthetic drug was supposed to be sent to a consignee in Pasig City.
The ecstasy tablets were later turned over to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution of consignee and those involved for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act in relation to Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of the CMTA.
Meanwhile, through “strict profiling” a shipment that was only declared as Chinese Cook Book Recipes was seized at the Port of Clark for containing $54,215 in US dollar bills.
According to the bureau, the bills were found inserted on pages of various magazines.
The shipment arrived on May 25, 2020 from Hong Kong and was subjected to non-intrusive examination. However, physical examination on the shipment later led to the discovery of 540 pieces of $100 bill, two pieces of $50 bill, four pieces of $20 bill, one piece of $10 bill and five pieces of $5 bill.
The various denominations were found inserted on pages of seven different magazines.
A warrant of seizure and detention was issued by District Collector Atty. Ruby Alameda.
