Sharing information on anti-counterfeit goods

At the meeting, Dam Thanh The, Chief of Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389, said the office coordinated with competent agencies in sharing and providing information, including the market surveillance force to handle many outstanding and typical cases.

For example, the Standing Office coordinatedin handlingthe case of five carriages of a train containing smuggled goods at Yen VienRailway Station; a case of 400 tonnes of chestnuts in Lao Cai, and a case of a warehouse containing smuggled goods in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the Standing Office also instructed localities and held briefings according to each area to evaluate and share information on methods and tricks of smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods.

It has also organized training courses on intellectual property for forces, including the Market Surveillance force; as well as coordinated in communication forforces.

The added the market surveillance inspect and control markets ona large scale related to areas such as intellectual property infringement, anti-counterfeitgoods, trade fraud, origin fraud and illicit transshipment.

He proposed the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance to share information, the Standing Office is charge of regulating information, monitoring results of handling cases and sharing experience in handling cases; raise awareness of cadres, civil servants and officials in performance.

Also, Director General of the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance, Tran Huu Linh, said in 2019, the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance focused on organisational structure and did not achieve outstanding results in operational activity.

In 2020, the Market Surveillance force will focus on inspection and control of the market, especially the fight against counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement.

“The surveillance force is in charge of preventing production of counterfeitgoods in the inland,” Linh said.

In addition, the Market Surveillance continues to coordinate with forces such as customs, border guards in the Northern Border (in Lao Cai and Lang Son), the Southwest Border (in Tay Ninh and AnGiang) to prevent smuggled goods at the border.

The force has also prevented frauds in e-commerce and implemented interdisciplinary coordinationthrough the signing of coordination regulations.

At the meeting, representatives commented on the draft coordination regulationsin the organization of forces and means of implementation, promoted the role and responsibility based on coordination, solidarity, support and facilitation for each side.

On the other hand, ensuring information security, forces, means, and operational measures of each side; notaffecting duties and internal affairs of each side and normal operations of the concerned agencies, organizations and individuals.
