VCN - The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of August, 2023 the total Vietnam’s exports of US dollars 18.23 billion and imports of nearly US dollars 14.97 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 3.26 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of August was US dollars 33.2 billion, up by 15.9% as compared to the first half of August-2023. Furthermore, in the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 19.9 billion.

In the view of Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) traders, the total value of exportation and importation in the first 8 months of 2023 reached USD 300.51 billion, down by 13.2% in comparison to the same period of 2022.

Export:

As compared to the first half of August-2023, second half of the month increase in the total export value (26.2% - USD 3.79 billion equally) is reflected by upturn in machine tool equipments telephone (up by 35.6% - 545 million equally); computer, electrical products and part thereof (up by 22.1% - USD 525 million); textiles and garments (up by 22.4% - USD 347 million equally); telephone, mobile phones and part thereof (up by 12.8% - USD 309 million); irons and steels (up by 102% - USD 239 million); fishery products (up by 33.9% - USD 125 million).

Totally, in the first 8 months of 2023 total export value from Vietnam was USD 228.17 billion, climbed down by 9.8% as compared to the same period of 2022 (equivalent to USD 24.79 billion in absolute value terms).

Import:

The first half to second half of August widen in the total of import value (5.3%) reflected upturn in computer, electrical products and part thereof (up by 3.8% - USD 156 million); fabrics (up by 18.6% - USD 92 million); plastics (up by 16.6% - USD 67 million equally); fertilizers (up by 105% - USD 52 million); wheat (up by 7 times - USD 91 million)...

From January to second half of August-2023, total import value into Vietnam was USD 208.27 billion, went down by 15.9% as compared to the same period of 2022 (equivalent to USD 39.43 billion in absolute value terms).
