Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of December, 2016
Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of December was US dollars 16.09 billion, drop by 3.9% as compared to the second half of November-2016.
Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of December of 2016 totaled US dollars 333.06 billion in value terms. It posted a growth of 6.4% from the same period of previous year. In which, the total merchandise export value was up 8.5% to US dollars 167.83 billion and the total merchandise imports value was up 4.3%, to US dollars 165.23 billion.
In the view of Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first half of December reached USD 5.56 billion and USD 4.78 billion respectively. From January to December 15th of 2016, the total export value of FDI traders went up 11.5% to US dollar 117.99 billion, which accounted for 70.3% of Vietnam’s total exports. In the meanwhile, import value was posted at USD 97.52 billion, up by 4.5% and accounted for 59%.
Export:
When compared with the second half of November-2016, export of first half of December decreased by 7.2%, mostly as a result of the decline registered in following products: means of transportation (down by 20.1% - USD 61 million equally); machine, equipment, tools and instruments (down by 12.7% - USD 75 million equally); telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by USD 16 % - USD 281 million)…
However, the following commodities climbed up in export value: textile and garment (up by 1.5% - USD 15 million equally); vegetables and fruits (up by 19.8% – USD 19 million equally); rice (up by 43% - USD 27 million equally); coffee (up by 24.5% - USD 34 million)…
Import:
In the first half of December 2016, import decreased by 0.6% when compared with second half of November, mainly reflecting the shrunk of wheats (down by 50.3% - USD 28 million equally); animal fodders and animal fodder materials (down by 18.6% - USD 34 million equally); petroleum products (down by 24.5% - USD 69 million equally); means of transportation (down by 85.6% - USD 165 million equally)…
Widen occurred in the following commodities: corn (up by 68.8% - USD 35 million equally); soya bean (up by 4.4 time – USD 40 million equally); machine, equipment, tools and instruments (up by 3.2% - USD 44 million); irons and steels (up by 17.9% - USD 59 million equally)…
