12th Party Central Committee convenes third meeting

Delegates commented on regulations on the implementation of the Party Statute as well as Party inspections, supervision, and discipline. Members of the Party Central Committee approved a list of high-ranking personnel for state agencies for the 2016-2021 term, which will be submitted to the 1st session of the 14th National Assembly for election or approval. 

They also gave their opinions on a report by the Politburo on important issues resolved by the Politburo since the 2nd plenum. 

They looked into the Politburo’s report on remarkable jobs the agency has done since the second plenum of the 12 th Party Central Committee. 

The Party Central Committee called on the entire Party, people and army to  push ahead with achievements they have recorded, deal with limitations and weaknesses, and reinforce the great national unity bloc to fulfill socio-economic targets set for the second half of 2016 and the whole year.

In his speech, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said, “Greater efforts should be made to achieve this year’s targets, which include the restructuring of state-owned enterprises and the state budget, settling bad debts, ensuring public debt safety, Party building and rectification, the prevention of corruption, waste, and bureaucracy, protecting national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, maintaining a peaceful, stable environment for development, and active international integration.”

To reach set targets in the second half of this year and for the whole year, the Party chief called for greater efforts to seek measures to deal with urgent problems, and focus resources for socio-economic development.

It is essential to enhance the effective implementation of strategic breakthrough measures and speed up the restructuring of State-owned enterprises and the State budget, while settling bad debts and ensuring a safe level of public debt.

He also stressed the need to focus on ideology, communication and media work, thus creating consensus in the community and deal with wrongful arguments.
