Number of violations handled in the third quarter increased by 40% compared to the same period in 2021

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC), in the third quarter of 2022, GDVC continued to drastically implement measures to combat smuggling and trade frauds and counterfeit goods, illegally transporting goods across the border, drastically implementing customs control plan in 2022, strengthening the fight against smuggling and trade fraud of tobacco, sugar, gasoline, coal...
As a result, the whole sector has chaired, coordinated and handled 4,709 cases. The value of infringing goods was estimated at VND662 billion; revenue collection reached VND45 billion; Customs authorities prosecuted 11 cases and transferred 44 cases to other agencies for prosecution.
Notably, the number of violations and the value of infringing goods increased sharply compared to last year. In particular, the number of violations rose by 1,344 cases (equivalent to an increase of nearly 40%), while the value of infringing goods increased by VND356,844 billion, a substantial increase of 116.9%.
Accumulated in the first nine months of the year, the whole Customs sector has chaired and handled a total of 12,243 cases of violation, with the value of infringing goods estimated at VND 4,434 billion; State revenue reached VND253,969 billion; Customs authorities prosecuted 35 cases, transferred 99 cases to other agencies for prosecution.
