In January, total amount of registered capital for establishing enterprises increased the most in four years

According to the socio-economic report in January 2020 by the General Statistics Office, in January, the whole country had nearly 8,300 newly established enterprises with registered capital of VND 267.2 trillion and the number of registered workers was 84,500.
The General Statistics Office stated that, due to the Lunar New Year, the number of businesses decreased by 17.9 percent; decreased by 21.7 percent in the number of employees but increased by 76.8 percent in the registered capital compared to the same period in 2019.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached VND32.3 billion, up 115.3 percent over the same period last year.
In the month, the whole country had more than 8,400 businesses returning to operation, an increase of 0.1 percent over the same period in 2019.
According to the economic sector, in January, there were 147 newly established enterprises in agriculture, forestry and fishery, equaling the same period in 2019; more than 2,400 enterprises in industry and construction, down 10.6 percent; more than 5,700 businesses in the service sector, down 21 percent.
Some of the fields of operation with the number of newly established enterprises decreasing included wholesale, retail, repair of cars, motorcycles, mining, construction, manufacturing and processing industries.
Also in January of this year, the number of enterprises registering for temporary cessation of business was over 11,700, up 8.3 percent over the same period last year. The number of enterprises ceasing operations pending procedures for dissolution is 5,555, down 54.8 percent; more than 1,600 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, down 10 percent from the same period last year.
