Imported cars at Hai Phong port are mainly from diplomatic agencies. |
According to the Customs Newspaper, imported cars into Hai Phong port reached more than 4,000 units (from early 2017 to mid-March 2017), including many models such as Bentley, Land Rover, and Mercedes. However, most of these luxury cars are imported under the form of non-trade (mainly the property of Embassies of foreign countries in Vietnam).
Due to goods of the diplomatic agencies, under the relevant Law, these luxury cars will be exempted from all taxes (import tax, consumption tax, and VAT).
It is known that in 2016, the Customs Branch of Hai Phong port, Zone III was one of the few units under the Hai Phong Customs Department that conducted procedures in trading forms for some luxury cars such as Bentley, Roll Royce with a tax amount of billions of vnd per car. However, from the beginning of the year, there have been no luxury cars to be imported at Hai Phong port.
Regarding the import of cars at the Hai Phong Customs Department, according to the information source of the Customs Newspaper, in January 2017, the number of imported passenger cars reached 1,910 units. In February 2017, the number of imported cars reached 1,372 units, but February 2017 was the time of Lunar New Year holiday; therefore, it is reasonable to see a decrease in the number of imported goods; and in the first half of March 2017, there were more than 700 cars to be imported.
As a result, the total number of imported passenger cars conducting procedures at the Hai Phong Customs Department reached more than 4,000 units (not including vehicles imported into Hai Phong port but conducting Customs procedures in other units) and the Hai Phong Customs Department was one of the agencies with the largest imported cars in Vietnam.
Imported cars at Hai Phong port mainly come from Britain, France, Germany, USA, and Japan. In particular, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, and India are the market with the largest imported cars to the Hai Phong Customs Department.
