Handling nearly 500 containers of the export old car tires

Among the remaining, only 148 containers have been checked and categorized by Cat Lai’s Asset-handling council.
Recently, the Branch of Sai Gon gate Customs department has held a meeting with several logistic companies and shipping agencies, and was able to identify that the number of derelict containers were up to 148. The rest would be handled according to the Ministry of Finance’s Circular number 203/2014 / TT-BTC date 22-12-2014 by Sai Gon port’s customs sub-department in region 1.
According to Ho Chi Minh Customs department, since the cost of disposing those goods is too significant for the government’s budget, the used tires have to be stored long term even though it might cause a blockage of goods for the port.
Lately, two letters from 2 local firms (listed and authorized by the Bureau of Resource and Environment for processing used tires) were proposed to Cat Lai port’s council with the aspiration of being given permissions to process the backlog goods. Ho Chi Minh City customs department will recommend to delivery to businesses who have the capability to process old car tires.
Based on Sai Gon port’s customs sub-department in region 1’s analysis, beside the gradually increasing proportion of imported goods, the local authority’s poor management in identifying and governing corporate firms, which caused several cases of loss with firms abandoning their inventory, has indirectly led to the unsettlement in Cat Lai port. There are also some reasons behind the backlog containers case in Cat Lai port, such as foreign companies’ mid-delivery of products; or the complexity in procedure that leads to the abandonment of goods…
