GDP growth of 6.7% in 2017 is not easy

Commenting on the ability to achieve the GDP growth target of 6.7%, Mr.Le Quoc Phuong, Deputy Director of Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Centre, Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the target of 6.7% is not easy for 2017.

According to the explanations of experts, in 2016 we set a target of 6.7%, but up to this time, we know that this goal is difficult to achieve, which is expected to reach 6.2 to 6.3%.

Mr.Le Quoc Phuong said that, although It is not easy, if we have strong measures and aggressively may still achieve the growth of 6.7% in 2017, in conditions of better world economy, domestic agriculture is at less risk from the Elnino phenomena like 2016 and in terms of our economy is relatively stable.

"However, things that interest me more is that we reach 6.7% at what cost? If we achieve this goal, the conditions of the budget deficit must be below 4% at the same level as the National Assembly set out, public debt does not exceed 65% of ceiling, inflation must be at 3-4%, environment is retained ... this is the important thing, a difficult problem for the Government.

That means we achieved relatively high growth in terms of stable macroeconomic conditions , ensuring social security and environmental protection, which does not only look at the number of 6.7%, "Mr. Le Quoc Phuong said.Stemming from this, Mr. Le Quoc Phuong noted that: "In my view, assuming growth we can achieve in 2017 is a little lower which is only 6.5%, but if you can keep the environment, budget deficit, public debt below threshold...

It is encouraging and praising. If we can do that then this is a great effort for the new term of government, because currently we are having a lot of difficulty ".
