Export turnover of more than $US 5 billion, Thai Nguyen passes Binh Duong and Bac Ninh

With this result, Thai Nguyen passed Binh Duong and Bac Ninh to become the second largest exporter in the country, after Ho Chi Minh City.
On April 13, 2017, talking with the correspondent of Customs Newspaper, Ms.Nguyen Thi Thanh Hao, the Head of Import-Export Management and International Economic Integration Division (under Thai Nguyen Industry and Trade Department) said that export results in the first quarter of the province had the growth over 12% over the same period in 2016.
The key export items in Thai Nguyen are mobile phones, telephone and parts thereof and tablet computer of Samsung Group, and textiles and garments (mainly from TNG Co., Ltd.).
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hao, the spectacular growth in export activities of Thai Nguyen in recent years thanks to the efficiency in investment activities of Samsung Group.
"The traditional export items of the province have also been improved, but they can not make the breakthrough without the investment of the Samsung Group," shared by the Head of Import-Export Management and International Economic Integration Division.
Related to the export activities of localities in the first quarter of 2017, contrast to the spectacular growth of Thai Nguyen is the sharp decrease of Bac Ninh.
In the first quarter of 2017, the export turnover of Bac Ninh only reached $US 4.824 billion, ranking 4th in the country (after Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen and Binh Duong) and sharply decrease by $US 658 million over the same period last year.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, by the end of the first quarter, 9 out of 63 provinces and cities had export turnover from $US 1 billion or more, adding more one province over the same period in 2016.
A new province on the "$US billion " export list is Bac Giang with a turnover of $US 1.102 billion (in the same period of 2016 only reached $US 822 million).
