Two key links in the southern logistics chain

According to the Vietnam seaport classification list, Dong Nai Port is a national major port (class I seaport) and is invested and exploited by Dong Nai Port Joint Stock Company.

Vinh Tan International Port (in Binh Thuan province) is also a port of Binh Thuan Seaport (class II seaport), invested by Vinh Tan International Port Joint Stock Company (a member of Pacific Corporation).

These ports have been certified by the International Seaport Association.

The two ports are located in strategic areas and are convenient for goods transportation and border gate transfer of businesses.

Dong Nai Port has container terminal system and exploited the container cargo industry, making Dong Nai port an important link of the logistics chain. The port plays a role as a seaport for unloading goods and an Inland Container Deport (ICD) linking with international container terminals in HCM City and Cai Mep - Thi Vai port complex.

Vinh Tan International Port is the first deep water port complex, to meet the demands for imports and exports of general goods, facilitate the socio-economic development of Binh Thuan province and neighboring provinces in the South Central Region and Central Highlands of Vietnam.

Along with other key infrastructure projects such as Phan Thiet airport, National Highway 1A, Dau Giay - Phan Thiet, Nha Trang - Phan Thiet highways, Vinh Tan International Port will become a synchronous and diversified chain, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the economy of the province, creating a driving force to attract investment in the near future.

Benefits from the model of seaport customs branch

The operation of customs apparatus under the model of seaport customs branch aims to meet essential requirements on operational capacity of these ports and the socio-economic development of the two provinces.

The operation of the seaport customs branch has contributed to achieving the goal of developing Dong Nai Port and Vinh Tan International Port in line with the master plan for socio-economic development of these provinces, and processed a part of cargo of seaports under group 5 and group 4.

Currently, goods imported and exported by enterprises in Dong Nai, Binh Thuận and neighboring provinces must carry out procedures for border gate transfer from HCM City to Dong Nai, Binh Thuan (or vice versa), which has taken a lot of time and costs.

The operation of the model will reduce costs and time for goods transportation and increases the competitiveness of enterprises. At the same time it will lighten the load for ports in HCM City and relieve traffic congestion.

According to Dong Nai Customs Department, the data on the number of businesses carrying out customs procedures, trade and revenue in the two provinces has shown strong growth.

The investment attraction and socio-economic development of Dong Nai and Binh Thuan have showed great potential.

Especially, the two provinces have promoted and attracted investment by implementing effective solutions and reforming their management methods, and are adjacent to HCM City. Therefore, the operation of the model is in line with the requirements.

To meet the demand, the capacity of harbor of Dong Nai port and Vinh Tan International Port is growing rapidly. This is the driving force for socio-economic development, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities in the province and neighboring provinces. The transport system has also been built and developed to satisfy the development of industrial parks and seaports.

Dong Nai Customs Department assessed that the operation of the model of seaport customs branch will enhance the brand value of Dong Nai Port and Vinh Tan International Port. This will also create a breakthrough in administrative reform in import and export activities, creating favorable conditions for businesses.
