Enterprises still prefer specialized inspections in Hanoi

Very few registrations in Quality Assurance and Testing Center Office No 1.

According to Hai Phong Customs Department, from the opening date of the specialized inspection station in the port of Hai Phong (1-12-2015) until the end of June 2016, the registrations of enterprises at Quality Assurance and Testing Center No.1 and National Institute for Food Control were very few.

From the opening date until the end of June, there were only 263 declarations registered at the two units in Hai Phong, equivalent to 6% of the total number of declarations needed to be tested by the Quality Assurance and Testing Center I and National Institute for Food Control.

Explaining the phenomenon, a Hai Phong Customs Department’s representative said that many enterprises were located in Hanoi and kept maintaining the registration, sampling and inspecting habits in Hanoi where Quality Assurance and Testing Center I and National Institute for Food Control offices were running.

On the other hand, the Offices of the 2 units in Hai Phong still lack technical equipment for testing, and officers working there have no competence to grant results notification to enterprises (this procedure must be done in Hanoi then transferred to Hai Phong to reply to enterprises) so the enterprises are reluctant to register there.

Currently the number of specialized inspection related declarations in Hai Phong are mainly processed in 2 units which are Phytosanitary branch area I and Animal Health Agency area II, with a total of nearly 77,000 declarations (from 1-12-2015 to the end of June), reaching 100% of the declarations to be inspected in the two fields.
