December 2016: Customs collects 1,255 billion vnd per day

VCN- According to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, until the end of 26th December 2016, Customs revenues reached more than 261,849 billion vnd, equivalent to 96.76% of the budget estimate in 2016. On average, Customs collected 1,255 billion vnd per day in December 2016.

In December 2016, Customs revenues for the State budget have been estimated at 26,000 billion vnd. In the final month of 2016, the turnover of some key exported commodities has tended to increase compared to the previous month, including: textiles with an increase of 5.4%; footwear with an increase of 2.7%; wood and wooden commodities with an increase of 10.3%; coffee with an increase of 41.6%; and crude oil with an increase of 3.7%.

While several other exported commodities have tended to decrease compared to the previous month, including: Telephone and accessories with a decrease of 11.4%; Computers, electronic commodities and components with a decrease of 4.5%; machinery, equipment and facilities with a decrease of 4.8%; means of transport and spare parts with a decrease of 13.6%.

Regarding imports, in December 2016, some key imported commodities have tended to increase compared to the previous month: Machinery, equipment and facilities have been estimated at $US 2.85 billion, an increase of 4.1% compared to the previous month; iron and steel has been estimated at 1.55 million tons, an increase of 6.5% in volume and the value has been estimated at $US 770 million, an increase of 8.1%; other base metals have also increased by 7.9%, worth $US 464 million, an increase of 11.9%; and materials for the textile, garment and footwear have been estimated at $US 450 million, an increase of 0.8%.

Some imported commodities have tended to fall compared to the previous month such as: computers, electronic products and components with a decrease of 3.2%; telephones and accessories with a decrease of 1.3%; fabrics with a decrease of 6.2%; plastic materials with a decrease of 11.8%; petroleum and gasoline with a decrease of 11.8%; and chemical products with a decrease of 3.5%.

According to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in December 2016, the total value of imported and exported goods has been estimated at $US 32.3 billion, a decrease of 0.6% compared to the previous month. In which, the total value of exports has been estimated at $US 16 billion, a decrease of 0.8% and the total value of imports has been estimated at $US 16.3 billion, a decrease of 0.5%.

Based on the above estimates, in 2016, the total value of imported and exported goods in Vietnam is expected to reach $US 349.2 billion, an increase of 6.6% compared to 2015. In which, the total value of exports has been estimated at $US 175.94 billion, an increase of 8.6% and the total value of imports has been estimated at $US 173.26 billion, an increase of 4.6%.

The trade deficit in December 2016 has been estimated at $US 300 million, equivalent to 1.9% of export value. Thus, in 2016, Vietnam is expected to reach nearly $US 2.68 billion of trade surplus, contrary to the trend of trade deficit of $US 3.55 billion in 2015.

Earlier, according to the analysis of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in December 2016, to meet the target of the State budget revenue of 270,000 billion vnd, Customs needs to collect an addition of 30,826 billion vnd, equivalent to 1,400 billion vnd per day. And in order to meet the target of the Ministry of Finance of 275,000 billion vnd, Customs needs to collect an addition of 35,826 billion vnd, equivalent to 1,628 billion vnd per day.

With only a few days left to the end of 2016, in order to accomplish the State budget revenue target, Customs needs to collect more than 8,151 billion vnd, equivalent to 1,630 billion vnd per day.

To 26th December 2016, there were 18 of 35 Customs Departments of provinces and cities accomplishing and exceeding the target of revenue collection. Some Customs Departments of provinces and cities have a large amount of revenue collection such as: the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Customs with 95.5%; the Hai Phong Department of Customs with 96%; and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Department of Customs with 84.41%.

In the remaining days, in order to complete the State budget revenue target, Customs shall continue to implement solutions which have been proposed earlier, especially facilitating enterprises in the field of import and export.
