Da Nang Customs raises revenue thanks to the implementation of solutions meeting dual goals

According to Da Nang Customs Department, the total trade in goods at the department in 2021 saw a year-on-year increase of 6.7% to US$3.7 billion. Of which, the import turnover decreased by 7.62% to over US$1.7 billion; export turnover rose 22.8% to over US$ 2 billion compared with the previous year.
Despite the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the total number of declarations processed by the department surged by 7.27% to 114,451 compared with the previous year.
To achieve the revenue target in 2021, the department has effectively performed solutions to implement the Government's plan for socio-economic development and the State budget estimate plan in 2021, Directive 215/CT-TCHQ dated January 15, 2021 of the Director of the General Department of Vietnam Customs implementing drastic measures for trade facilitation and improvement of the effectiveness of state management, anti-revenue loss in performing State revenue collection in 2021.
As of December 31, 2021 the department’s revenue increased 17.63% year-on-year to VND4,968 billion, meeting 139.9% of the target.
According to the Department, the revenue reached VND1,497.61 billion, which was mainly from automobiles imported as gifts and donations across Da Nang Seaport. The revenue of this item surged VND912.91 billion compared with the same period year, accounting for 30.2% of the total department’s revenue.
In addition, the imports of auto parts and accessories by Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company across Da Nang Seaport soared compared with the previous year. The revenue surged VND397.79 billion year-on-year to VND1,239.27 billion, accounting for 24.9% of the State revenue.
The positive results in turnover and revenue have shown the effective solutions of Customs in supporting and facilitating customs clearance.
The department has instructed business and customs declarants to implement solutions amid the pandemic such as guiding customs declarants in declaring and submitting customs dossiers via the customs system.
The department has inspected and received e-Certificates of Origin and applied new regulations on the deadline and the form of C/O submission for imports amid the Covid-19 pandemic to promote administrative reform and shorten customs clearance time.
It has also implemented procedures for granting import permits for cars for non-commercial purposes via the online public service system.
Regarding the physical inspection and customs supervision for goods, Da Nang Customs Department has instructed customs declarants and local customs branches to quickly implement procedures amid the lockdown. The department has provided specific plans to carry out procedures at local customs branches and developed response plans for different situations.
In addition, the department has received and handled problems related to customs procedures to ensure quick customs clearance.
The department has taken measures to prevent the pandemic even in the most difficult situations, including assigning officers on many shifts to handle procedures under the three-on-the-spot method from August 5 to September 20 at the department and its branches.
To facilitate and support enterprises, ensure smooth import and export activities, and implement the dual goals under the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, while ensuring pandemic prevention and expediting customs clearance and supporting activities for production, the department has proposed to build many effective policies to assist imports and exports.
