Customs discovered 108.3 kg of smuggled pangolin scales and shark fins

According to the press release announced by General Department of Vietnam Customs , on 2/11/2018, the Customs Enforcement Unit (Hanoi Customs Department) chaired and coordinated with Northern Anti-smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 1, Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Vietnam Customs) to inspect all two shipment imported from Nigeria to Noi Bai Airport that had signs of violation.

Through the physical inspection, the Customs force detected violated goods included 47kg of pangolin scales and 61.3kg of shark fins.

It is known that, from 16/10/2018 to 15/11/2018, the whole customs sector has chaired, coordinated, discovered and seized with total of 1,430 violation cases in the field of customs, the value of infringing goods was more than 208.79 billion VND; revenue collection reached over 19.89 billion VND; prosecuted 2 criminal cases, transferred to another authority for proposing to prosecute 18 cases.

Furthermore, accumulating from 16/12/2017 to 15/11/2018, the whole customs sector has coordinated, discovered and seized 15,539 cases of violations in the customs field; revenue collection reached 306.93 billion VND; Issued 62 decisions of prosecution, transferred 99 cases to other authorities for prosecution
