At the meeting on the morning of December 25, 2018, between the Reform and Modernization Board under the General Department of Customs and representatives of the Japanese Business Association, the two parties agreed to enhance cooperation activities in 2019, in which remaining periodical and quarterly meetings to solve problems encountered by the Japanese enterprises.

In addition, the representative of the Reform and Modernization Board recommended that in order to deal with problems encountered by the Japanese businesses in the most specific way, the enterprises must present the management agency documents related to problems arising and give suggestions and proposals.

Especially, Customs expected the Japanese enterprises to give comments on policies and laws and propose initiatives to renovate the management as well as further facilitate trade for the business community.

The two parties had a talk and gave an initiative for holding meetings and conferences to propagate and disseminate policies and law to enterprises. At the same time, the Japanese enterprises also support the Customs authority in training work knowledge and characteristics of goods to serve the professional activities.

In 2018, the General Department of Customs and the Japanese Business Association held 5 meetings. Accordingly, many problems of members of the Association were discussed and removed.

CPTPP to create more opportunities for Vietnamese, Japanese firms

Recently, with a desire to build a key force in the development of Customs –Business partnership, the General Department of Customs has actively built a regular partnership with the Business Associations, Import and export Enterprises and Import and export service providers. For the Business Associations, the General Department has organized regular dialogues with key associations, which are the domestic associations including fishery, garment and textile, footwear, automobile, machinery, steel, glass, sugar cane, petroleum, logistics and others, and the foreign associations and commercial chambers including Japan, the European association, Italy, the USA, South Korean, Taiwan- China.
