Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said Vietnam PFA 2019 will contribute to strengthening trade links and market expansion, opening up business opportunities, and improving the overall quality of products.
Boosts in these areas will help the country increase the added value of its farm produce as well as its involvement in the regional and global supply chain, Nam noted.
According to the 2019 PFA organizing board, the farm produce processing and preserving industry obtained good results with an annual growth rate of between 5-7% during the 2013- 2018 period. As a result, farm produce export turnover posted a sharp increase of 8-10% per year, hitting a record high of US$ 40.02 billion in 2018
Do Thang Hai, deputy minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized that the event will provide a venue for local firms to introduce their agricultural products, step up co-operation, apply advanced scientific technologies in production, and gain insights into modern management from foreign partners.
This year, associations and businesses with leading brands such as Vinamilk, TH Milk, Masan, VEAM, Arico, and VMS have registered to participate in the event with 150 stalls showcasing their different products.
A wide range of trade exchange activities are scheduled to be held during the event including a display of cutting-edge machinery, equipment and technologies that help businesses seek partners and investment opportunities towards effectively getting involved in the global supply chain.
A seminar will be held during the event that discusses the development of farm produce processing and preserving industry amid the international integration.
This year’s expo is expected to attract the participation of 20,000 visitors.
