The Covid-19 pandemic broke many production and business chains and declined demand, causing the income of many businesses to fall, affecting the ability to repay loans, and forced the bank to liquidate the assets. Therefore, instead of focusing on collateral which is real estate, the collateral offered for sale by banks is more diversified.

For example, BIDV Long Bien branch has just announced the auction of the property as the 8th Ocean Queen ship. The starting price that BIDV gave in this auction is nearly VND194 billion, but before that, at the end of 2019, BIDV announced to auction this ship with the starting price of more than VND300 billion.

VPBank announced the auction of 10 stainless steel coils, unit price from VND9,500-19,000 / kg, with a total starting price of over VND400 million. TPBank also announced the auction of five cars from five individual customers who have incurred debts at the bank with the current principal and interest balance of about VND2.23 billion. VIB is also selling up to 71 means of transport, with prices from VND210 million - VND1.5 billion.

Banks are rushing to sell to recover debts, but a backlog still occurs frequently, although banks have reduced prices many times compared to before. According to experts, the bank often fails to auction the assets, no one participates, has to organize the auction many times to succeed because the auctioned asset valuation is not accurate. Moreover, this situation is also due to the fact that the property or a part of the property is in dispute, which can bring many risks to the buyer, so they are not interested.

Therefore, in terms of the solution, most experts and bank leaders believe that the aggregate demand must be increased, creating new demand, in which the mechanism is to soon apply the simplified procedures to settle disputes related to handling bad debts. In particular, the issue of establishing a debt trading market during this period was mentioned.
