Arrest 2 people transporting ivory and rhino horn items

At 6:10am on November 27^th 2016, after receiving information from the local people, at the back of Mong Cai bus station area (area 5, Ka Long Ward, Mong Cai city), 2 people (include 1 man and 1 woman) drove motorbike (with license plate number: 14K1-146.90) to this area and received a suspecte package of wild animal. The inter-control team 1 (Customs Enforcement Team 1) and Advisory Division of Quang Ninh Border Guard have organized the forces to arrest.

At the scene, the functional forces have checked and arrested 2 people, seized 1 carton which contained a number of bracelets, necklaces and some pieces of horn and dried skin, nuts. All of these goods did not have any legal documents to prove their legal origin.

The inter-control team 1 inspected and counted the goods carefully, seized many pieces of animal horn (suspected as rhino horn); 11 ivory white bracelet (suspected as ivory bracelet); 9 ivory white necklaces (suspected as ivory necklaces), etc.

The whole shipment was suspected as wild animals on the list of endangered species, rare and protected precedence. Based on its nature, the Customs Enforcement Team 1 has completed records and proposed to transfer all records and exhibits to the Mong Cai Police for further investigation.
