At the meeting, Tran Quoc Vuong conveyed the best regards from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and President Tran Dai Quang to Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, congratulating the Party, State and people of China for successfully organizing the 19th Congress, the first session of the National People's Congress, and the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Vuong expressing his belief that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping being the nucleus, the Chinese people will definitely reap even greater achievements in the cause of building socialism and carrying out open-door reforms towards the goal of developing China into a modern, powerful, democratic, civilized, and harmonious nation.

Vuong said positive developments in multiple fields were seen in the relationship between the two parties and countries over the past years, as evidenced by the exchange visits of senior leaders in 2017, which were conducted for the first time in the same year.

Vietnamese leaders praised President Xi Jinping for having chosen Vietnam as the first country to pay his State visit to and attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2017 immediately after the 19th National Party Congress of China.

The Vietnamese Party official asked both sides to well implement common perceptions of the two countries’ senior leaders, enhance political trust between the two parties and the two countries by intensifying high-level delegation exchanges, improving the efficiency of cooperation mechanisms, satisfactorily resolving maritime issues, keeping up the development momentum of bilateral relations and a peaceful and stable environment in the region.

In reply, Xi Jinping warmly welcomed the China visit of Vuong and his delegation and extended his greetings to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang and other Party and State leaders of Vietnam.

He expressed his delight at the tremendous achievements the Party, State and people of Vietnam have recorded in the Doi Moi (Renewal) process and said he believes that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will successfully implement the objectives and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, thus making greater achievements in their renewal and socialist construction process.

President Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Vietnam are two neighboring socialist nations which share close proximity to each other by mountains and rivers, other similarities. Therefore, the continuous consolidation of the neighborly relations between the two parties is of greatly strategic significance to each party and each country, he noted.

He reiterated China’s readiness to join hands with the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam to continuously consolidate and develop the two parties and the two countries’ relations under the motto under the motto of "Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and future-oriented vision" and in the spirit of "good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners."

He said he hopes that the two sides will continue to enhance high-level delegation and people-to-people exchanges, consolidate political trust, and promote strategic connectivity in order to ensure the healthy and stable development of the two nations’ ties in the time ahead.

The same day, Vuong also held talks with Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

They updated each other on the situation of their respective Parties and countries, and reviewed the achievements and shortcomings in Vietnam-China ties over the past years.

The two officials also discussed measures to fully and seriously carry out agreements and common perceptions reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and nations, and to satisfactorily settle sea-related issues, thus improving the efficiency of practical and mutually-beneficial cooperation across a variety of areas.

During his five-day visit, starting on August 19, Vuong had working sessions with a number of agencies under the CPC Central Committee on issues of shared concern, and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in China.
