For 2024, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department was assigned a revenue target of VND 18 trillion. By November 27, collections had surpassed this, achieving nearly 106% of the target and marking a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The growth in import-export turnover was a key driver behind this positive performance. By November 15, the total import-export turnover processed by the department stood at US$23.157 billion, an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, exports reached US$8.94 billion, up 9%; imports reached US$14.217 billion, increased 23%; the trade deficit as of November 15 stood at US$5.277 billion.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department implemented numerous measures to support businesses while ensuring strict compliance with legal regulations. These included deploying staff to work directly with businesses or through logistics firms and customs agents to provide guidance and ensure smooth clearance processes; prioritizing assistance for new import-export enterprises and investors, addressing challenges, and resolving issues promptly.
These efforts not only streamlined customs procedures but also enhanced the effectiveness of revenue collection.
Despite exceeding the annual target, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department continues to focus on maximizing collections in the remaining weeks of the year. The department estimates that by the end of 2024, total revenue will reach VND 20.7 trillion, exceeding the assigned target by 15% and representing a 23% increase compared to 2023.
