According to Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, in the first six months of 2024, the unit handled 1,039 violations with infringing goods worth VND 2,685.4 billion.
Among them, there were seven smuggling cases; 16 cases of trading and transporting prohibited goods; 7 tax evasion cases; and over 1,000 other administrative violations (mainly violations of deadlines (524 cases) and regulations on customs declaration (386 cases).
Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has sanctioned over 1,000 administrative violations, with some total fine and tax arrears of over VND26 billion.
The Customs Authority issued a decision to prosecute one case; transferred to another agency to propose prosecuting 27 cases.
Notably, in the first 6 months of 2024, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department presided over and coordinated with competent forces to seize 13 cases of illegal drug transportation violations.
Among them, there were 8 violations of drugs transported via air routes; seizing more than 14kg of drugs and drug precursors of all kinds and arrested 3 foreigners; 5 cases of drug violations transported via postal and express delivery routes; seizing more than 7kg of drugs and drug precursors of all kinds, 2 violations awaiting inspection results.
