According to the city’s customs department, the revenue from taxes and fines in the first half of 2022 increased by 116% year-on-year to VND46.71 billion.
The Post Clearance Audit Branch has collected VND42.5 billion, accounting for 90% of the total revenue from the post-clearance audit.
Notably, the branch imposed taxes on many enterprises importing infringing goods. It also imposed about VND12 billion of taxes on two cashew importers that used goods subject to tax exemption for improper purposes and did not comply with regulations on the management of imported raw materials for export production.
Some companies imported goods with false codes and tax rates. For example, a company imported Electrolyte powder for hemodialysis, and was imposed a fine of about VND3.88 billion. A company imported goods and products that are outsourced at an export processing enterprise but failed to declare and pay import tax when importing them into the domestic market was imposed a fine of over VND2.3 billion.
