The 1St Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch has prosecuted Duy Phuong Anh Trading and Forwarding Services Co., Ltd for trading prohibited goods at Cat Lai Port.
According to the local customs branch, the company registered a declaration to import 49 items of furniture. These products are new and made in France.
However, through a physical inspection, the Customs detected that the 49 items were used dining tables, display cabinets, clocks, tables and chairs.
Bases on the inspection and verification results, Customs identified that the company imported banned goods and violated Clause 10, Article 14 of Decree 127/ND-CP dated October 15, 2013 amended and supplemented in Decree 45/2016/ND-CP dated May 26, 2016, with a total value of infringing goods of over VND244 million.
The company’s representative, Ms. Nguyen The An Phuong, said the company made a customs declaration to import the above shipment, ordered goods under the catalog provided by the partner and did not know the imported goods were used goods.
The customs agency determined that the importer had imported banned goods that were secondhand wooden and furniture products and falsely declared them as new goods to avoid detection by the competent agencies.
Duy Phuong Anh Logistics Service Trading Co., Ltd denied responsibility for importing banned goods.
The Customs branch has transferred the case to the Thu Duc City People's Procuracy and Police for further investigation.
