97 kg ivory without an Owner

VCN- Two parcels containing 105 pieces of ivory weighing 97 kg are backlogged at the Customs branch of Noi Bai international Airport (Hanoi Customs Department). Until now, nobody has come forward to claim the ivory.

According to Customs Branch of Noi Bai international Airport, the ivory shipments with tracking numbers 235.11281970, dated 1-4-2016, were shipped from the Congo to Vietnam.

Information on the bill of lading named the recipient as Hoang Kim Ngoc, in Yen Ninh commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province. However, Hoang Kim Ngoc has denied any involvement with the aforementioned shipments.

Talking to Customs News reporter, a Customs officer at Customs Branch of Noi Bai international Airport said: Some shipments transported to Vietnam have the recipient's name, but are rejected by recipients and not accepted.

If no organization or individual within 30 days of notification, takes delivery of the shipments, Customs Branch of Noi Bai international Airport will be required in accordance with the law: to confiscate such shipments or hand over to the National Reserve Department.
